This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

SAHS is a continuation high school where over 90% of our students are socioeconomically disadvantaged. We have foster/ homeless/pregnant/parenting and juvenile justice students along with students who come to us because they are behind in credits. Over 87% of our students are considered chronically absent.

This year we launched an Attendance campaign with mentorship for our at risk students!

The items we are ordering; snacks and motivational stickers are items our mentors can give to their mentees weekly when they complete their check-ins with them. I know this doesn't seem like much but for our students our mentors are often the 1 person in their life who is showing them we see their efforts and won't give up on them making up their credits and graduating!

Please help us to motivate our students to continue making the choice of coming to school each day regardless of the life circumstances they are dealing with which for many of our students is just day to day survival.
