My students need materials, such as cushions, handi-writers and putty, to provide sensory input to help them regulate themselves in order to learn.

My Students
Have you ever sat in a meeting and found yourself tapping your pencil or bouncing your leg? Everyone needs some kind of sensory input to be able to help regulate their bodies to focus. Some students need extra help to be able to achieve their best.
My students are Kindergarteners.
Many families are considered low income and some are even homeless. I have approximately 6 different languages represented in my classroom. I also have a handful of students that have been identified as having special needs. Some of these special needs students fall on the Autism Spectrum and require sensory input in order to function in the classroom.
My Project
These sensory materials (balls, seat cushions, brushes)will help those students who need that little extra help to stay focused. They will be able to utilize these materials to help meet their sensory system needs. Once those needs are met, the students will be able to calm and attend to the learning that is taking place.
As a teacher I make it my job to try to meet all my students needs.
Sometimes I need help to be able to provide what my students need. These materials will make the difference to some of my students in whether they will be able to learn or not.
