My students need targeted activities that will help them expand their English language skills. Each year the the number of English Language Learners grow in my class, therefore I need to adjust my lessons.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have a great group of students that are eager to learn! When I announce that it's time to pack up, they all respond with "Already? Can we stay and learn more?" They truly enjoy our time together in the classroom. In our class we constantly work as a team to help each other grow. Every time I say team, my students respond " Go, go, go!" This reminds them that as a team we have to move forward by counting on each other.
I have 26 students full of passion and drive to improve.
Our school is a Title l school located on the side of town that is developing. New homes are being built, which is bringing in families from different parts of the state. We have a diverse combination of students with unique personalities.
My Project
Teaching English Language Learners requires specific and targeted instruction, not just during ELD time but all day long! I want to ensure I have additional engaging activities for my English Learners. Therefore, in having these activity cards will give language learners the opportunity to practice a specific skill they need help in.
The set of activity cards focus on the 4 major areas English Language Learners need to grow in: writing, reading, listening and speaking!
Since the activity cards are reusable, students can exchange and use them as much as needed- a simple wipe will leave them ready for the next person. This will allow me to focus my time on further differentiating my groups by not having to worry about what students can do when they are ready to move on.
