Helping Develop Young Readers in a Diverse Classroom

My students need the following items in class to support our daily activities, and also to develop a love for reading chapter books! We need Alexander and the Terrible Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day and more.

My Students

My students are mostly low income families with 2 or more siblings in single parents households.My school is a fairly new Charter School with great need of funding support. We are working to implement a project based learning environment to fit the diverse learners at our school.My classroom is filled with thriving learners that lack the materials to function at their best ,I work extremely hard to try to come up with homemade activities to make our day productive .I would love to have the chance to say "Kids we have a variety to select from today!"

My Project

In my classroom I don't have any classroom set of group reading so we make copies of the book and share during group reading time .The class set of books will definitely be a blessing !It also will help the one that work on the lower levels to follow along with the audio versions.I have many student that have never went to the Library before so by having the books we need in class maybe that will spark a discussion at home for some of them .I also have a ESL student that doesn't read Engish at all but he really wants to learn to read so by providing my clasd with the audio books he can listen and follow along better!
