Helping to eliminate barriers to education.

My room helps support the needs of our students and their families. At our school, we strive to make sure that any barriers to education for the student and their families are addressed, in order to make education the main focus for the students. Families should not have to worry about their students not having school supplies, hygiene products, and/or the clothing needed to attend school on a daily basis. Most of the students who attend are from low-income families who do not always have the means to get needed items. The families shouldn't have to worry about picking between buying clothing or food. Some families can't afford to buy the basics and that is where I step in. I love being able to give the families needed resources and seeing the relief it brings them and the students.

My Project

All of our students and their families deserve to have their basic needs met. With the requested items I will be able to organize my room. I will be able to separate clothing by size and gender which will make it easier to find what is needed. The room divider will be used as a changing area for students to make sure that items fit correctly. It is important for the room to look inviting so that no one feels ashamed to ask for the items or information they need. I have asked for the pamphlet holders to easily display valuable resources that are offered in the community for the students and their families.

My room is open to all students, their families and staff.

It has been shown that when basic needs are meet the student can be more engaged in learning. With your support, I will be able to assist others more effectively.
