My Students
My students are energetic, loving, and excited to learn. They work hard and they play hard. They are curious about the world around them and they aren't afraid to ask questions. They try their best in class, they give compliments to those around them, and their smiles light up the room. They have a range of abilities and disabilities and many come from diverse backgrounds. One of the best things about our school is that my lucky students receive Spanish instruction daily. Our school also has a focus on service learning. Both the Spanish class and service learning help these kids explore their communities and the world.
My students are exceptional at learning through technology.
They can easily pick up new computer skills, which helps them learn in such a rapidly changing world.
My Project
My students have access to many fantastic online programs that supplement their learning. Imagine Learning and i-Ready are research-based adaptive programs that help fill in any gaps students have in their learning. They also allow students to work above grade level so they can progress in their learning at their individual speeds. Reflex is a math facts program that helps kids memorize addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts in a fun way.
My students need headphones in order to best use these learning programs.
Sadly, many of our school headphones have broken. My students are sometimes left without headphones. This leads to them being more distracted by others around them while they are distracting others with loud computers. A new class set of quality headphones will help my students access their online learning programs for many years.
