Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The main challenge my students face is living in a low-income community. Many students are raised by a single parent, and are on the free or reduced price lunch program.
My students are wonderful!
I have 25 students, 15 boys and 10 girls. They are in my part-time classroom and eager to learn English! They are in a transition stage, coming from a Spanish classroom and they are thrilled to be learning English full time. They are ready to work!
My Project
I am requesting a media cart so I can easily use a document camera and projector for lessons. Right now, I juggle the different technology on a flimsy table that makes it difficult to use.
I am also requesting a reading carpet. This year, I had to move into a different classroom, and it has tile flooring. I want to cozy up the floor so students have a fun place to read.
I am also requesting storage bins and lids to help students organize reading books. This will help them keep their materials organized in a neat way.
I feel as I can only do so much with the resources I am given.
Being part of a low income community, that is difficult to do. I am trying to make my classroom a warm, safe place for students!
