My students need a 50 writing journals so they can practice writing in school and at home as well as a classpack of colored pencils to color their pictures.
Writing is fundamental! What about when writing is difficult due to limited resources? That is the challenge facing my students every day during writing. Having writing journals and colored pencils will help my students develop their writing skills and make their drawings beautiful.
I teach general and special education students in a Title I public school in Brooklyn, NY.
My students love writing, but many of them are struggling with staying on one topic, making their pictures match their words, and adding details to their writing. This project will allow my students to have writing journals to practice creative writing in school and at home.
My Project
I am requesting 50 writing journals and a classpack of colored pencils. The writing journals are notebooks that has a blank section on each page so that students can draw a picture and then write about their drawing on the lines. Unlike crayons, the colored pencils will allow my students to color their pictures without covering any details they may draw.
It is my goal to build creative, imaginative, expressive, engaging and experienced writers.
Writing journals will give my students the chance to write freely and draw pictures to match their words. Help give the future journalists a great start.
