This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
“Creativity takes courage. ”
― Henri Matisse
My students are creative individuals who are just waiting to be exposed to new materials.
I have the privilege of teaching art to 7th and 8th grade students including special needs in a low income, Title I school district.
The majority of my student population are English Language Learners.
Most of my students have had very little art experiences before entering my classroom. I am surrounded by young, talented artists who are craving the opportunity to work in new mediums, such as glass.
My Project
To give my students the art experiences they deserve, I want to bring glass into the classroom. Using glass cutters and running pliers, we will be able to cut glass for various projects such as stained glass, mosaics, and jewelry. Glass projects will give my kids the opportunity to connect to art history as well as modern day art in a way they never have before. They will also learn about color, form, and shape.
Your donations will greatly impact my students lives.
Despite the fact my students are coming from a low-income school district, these kids deserve the exciting opportunity to work with glass.
