My Project
The books I am requesting for my classroom will be used to transform my ELA curriculum. As a reading specialist who teaches a reading class consisting of students that read one to three grade levels below, it is difficult for them to follow the standard 4th grade curriculum utilized by my school. After many years of adapting and modifying our curriculum, I finally found a resource that is suitable for my students. This resource focuses around a read-aloud story each week - which are the books I am requesting. The books reflect a variety of genres that will expose my students to numerous topics. In addition, each week there is a focus on different comprehension strategies and skills, vocabulary, and grammar concepts. All lesson plans and activities are aligned to the Common Core State Standards as well.
Please help me take my students on a reading journey to set them up for success!
My young learners get too frustrated with the material presented to them at the higher level, and they deserve to have a love for reading. I know the books I am requesting and this new curriculum will benefit my students and help them gain confidence in their reading abilities.
