My students need a collection of language arts materials, including novel sets and teacher resources for three different books: "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", "How to Eat Fried Worms", and "Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing" and three different take-to-your-seat reading comprehension activity books.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. M.'s classroom raised $1,008

I teach in a very high poverty school where resources are scarce. We are a 100% Free Lunch school. The students who would benefit from this proposal have all been retained at least two times and are very below grade level. They are currently in a fourth grade classroom and hope to make enough progress to get to sixth grade by the end of the school year.
My students struggle academically with the fundamentals of literacy, particularly comprehension and language skills. Paper and pencil tasks do not resonate with them in a substantial way. There are few opportunities for students to utilize fun activities and interesting text in conjunction with the skills they are learning because resources have been unavailable to them. With new new books and powerful activities the students would have a new avenue for the reading that is essential for their growth and development into world class students.
The reading materials we are requesting would benefit the students in the most positive way. We are requesting three classroom sets of novels along with corresponding activity books. We are also in need of learning center activities and materials to improve testing, such as take-to-your-seat reading comprehension activities.
My students get very excited about reading, particularly when they feel successful. Putting materials in their hands that will enhance their literacy and reading comprehension as well as spur their interest will only benefit them. Having hands on activities and exciting stories that teach them while giving them new educational experiences will be unparalleled for my students.
Many people have given up on our students. We are giving them a second chance to be successful, thriving students. By donating, you will be making it possible for our students to achieve their highest potential. You will be helping to ensure our students are knowledgeable about reading and literacy in the best way possible for them.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
