My Students
My school is located in a low-income neighborhood with students from diverse backgrounds. Over 95% of the population qualifies for free school meals. We are a Title I school. My classroom consists of special needs students who put their best foot forward every day.
My third graders are eager to learn and deserve quality
materials. With differentiated learning needs, having the right materials and resources is key. Each student is unique and has different learning styles. We deserve quality resources and experiences that will shape their future. Being that we are a Title I school, however, it’s often a challenge to find funding to purchase materials and resources. Basic classroom supplies and technology are in high demand in our school. Our students deserve to experience high-quality education and resources to nurture their learning experience.
My Project
The use of copy paper is almost a daily activity in my classroom, especially in math. Using the workshop model in math, students come to the rug with copy paper inside a sheet protector for guided practice and to record modeled strategies. The copy paper and sheet protectors allow me to see exactly what they are doing, as well as provide an easy place for them to show and share their work. What becomes a problem is the fact that the paper never seems to last, paper seems to disappear, and the sheet protectors slowly become stained from frequent use.
