Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Technology has been shown to have positive effects on the instructional process, on basic and advanced skills (Kosakowski, 1999). I believe my students are at a great disadvantage because they do not have computer access in the classroom.
I teach fourth grade at an inner city school where the school budget is constantly being cut.
As a result, there is no funding to enhance the curriculum with technology. My students want to learn but sometimes the motivation is lacking because we live in a technologically advanced society yet they are learning from antiquated books.
My Project
I'm hoping that with a laptop computer in our class we will be able to access the Internet. We can use it to build prior knowledge for reading topics, research topics for writing, publish our writing in a word processing document and use CD-Roms from our math and science textbooks to enhance our lessons.
This computer will inspire my students to push their learning to a new level through technology.
Help them continue to become technologically literate and prepare for their future.
