My students need some books about mapping, state symbols and holidays, 25 class subscriptions to Time For Kids and DVDs about important people to help them learn social studies.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember what it was like to read a social studies text book? It can be hard to grasp events and people's lives from so long ago without being able to relate to them. Help bring social studies to life with these materials that will help them understand a time long ago.
My students are excited about school they come to school nearly everyday, even when they are sick, with an open mind and the desire to learn something new each day.
Our school is in an area with very little means, we have a wonderful new principal who is very supportive but she can not give us money to buy extras because there just is not any money to give. Our limited resources leave us with little to bring our textbooks to life.
My Project
My students need some books about mapping, state symbols and holidays, a subscription to Time For Kids and DVDs about important people to help them learn social studies. These resources will open my student's imaginations to be able to time travel to an era from the past and relive what it would have been like to live and be the people we study. I can remember a college professor I had who made social studies real for me threw photos, movie clips and Rellia of those times we were studying. I would love to be able to give my students the chance to really understand the lives and times we are studying.
This donation would bring these bright eyed, curious little people into a world that is hard to understand and give them an understand of why and how life became as it is today!
The students will fall in love with the past and look forward to the future with this project.
