This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students are in grades TK-5. We are a large public school on the border of the Mission District and Bernal Heights. We have students who came into the school year with a variety of skill levels and from a variety of backgrounds.
My students have a wide variety of needs and challenges, but also a wide variety of strengths!
There is a strong sense of community in this school and everyone here wants to see our children grow and learn.
My Project
I have purchased tablets with my own money and they are great! These tablets are great because students are able to use programs such as Raz-Kids. This is so helpful for engaging reluctant readers and I can track their progress. Their parents are also able to check their progress and see what they've been reading in school!
I don't have enough tablets for everyone to get a chance to use them every day.
The programs I used are especially great for my ELL students because they add visual and audio supports to their learning.
Furthermore, they are great for adding differentiated practice in math. There are a variety of math learning games that students love. They are truly some of the most useful tools in my classroom and more would be extremely appreciated.
