Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember dissecting a plant and looking at all of its parts. My students have not had the opportunity to do this.

My students are in the third grade in an inner city school in New York.

Most of the children come from either shelters or single parent homes. Even though their home lives are rough, the children come to school with an open mind and very eager to learn.

My Project

These charts and materials will help my students visualize what they are learning. They will be able to chart and follow along as experiments are done in class. They will also be hung in the science center, so it will be a constant reinforcement of vocabulary that is learned. The stamp activity will allow the children to work cooperatively with each other to label and identify the parts of a plant.

This donation will definitely help my students comprehend the life cycle of a plant as well as the parts that make up a plant.

It will allow them to have fun and explore while they are learning. It will have a positive impact that they will carry with them as they move on to higher grades in school.
