My Project
Each year, my school district hosts an exciting reading competition called Battle of the Books. It is a district-wide reading program that inspires 4th and 5th grade students to dive into a diverse selection of high-quality literature. Through friendly team-based competition, students demonstrate their knowledge of ten carefully selected books—discussing themes, characters, and details in a fun, interactive format. The program encourages students to explore new genres, consider different perspectives, and develop critical thinking skills, all while building a deeper love of reading. It’s a powerful way to bring literature to life, build community, and help students grow as thoughtful readers and teammates.
Currently, our district does not receive any additional funding to support participation in Battle of the Books.
As the sponsor, I am committed to giving my students this meaningful opportunity, but we rely entirely on outside support to purchase the required books. With your help, I can ensure that all of my students have access to the full set of titles they need to compete, collaborate, and grow as readers. Your support makes it possible for us to continue this enriching experience year after year.
In August, our 4th and 5th grade students will start gearing up to compete in our district's Battle of the Books competition. But to be ready, they need access to the full list of competition novels.
With your support, we can fill our library shelves with the titles our students need to prepare, practice, and shine. These books won’t just help them win—they’ll inspire them to become confident, curious readers for life.
By engaging with high-interest novels and discussing them with peers, my students are not just preparing for a competition—they’re becoming stronger readers, thinkers, and teammates. Your support opens doors for all of my students.
