My Students
Everyone can be successful when given the opportunity and support. I believe that all of my students can grow positively. I believe this to be true both academically and as members of society. I do this by building positive relationships from day one.
My middle school students are a wonderful group who come from various backgrounds.
They are a diverse group that blend together to help each other learn and be successful. At our school we strive to create a "family" where students from all different grade levels and personal backgrounds feel comfortable and confident in themselves, each other and their teachers. We strive to create a school where people feel valued as an individual and as a learner. Everyone has something to offer and everyone is an important part of the "family".
My Project
My students need an electric pencil sharpener and Perplexors/Math Bafflers to keep their pencils and minds sharp. Currently we have a wall hand crank pencil sharpener. Having an electric pencil sharpener would create a more efficient way to sharpen pencils. Also, the students will be using the Perplexor and Math Baffler Activities to strengthen their critical thinking, creativity and logic skills. All while exploring real-life situations. These activities are very important as they will show the students how math and logic are used in daily life.
Many times teachers hear students ask "when will we use this in real life?".
The Perplexor and Math Baffler activities will change my students lives by showing them relevant "real-life" situations that require them to use math and logic. All while strengthening their critical thinking skills.
The pencil sharpener will improve the classroom by making sharpening pencils an easier and faster task. This allows students to get back to work more quickly than using our current hand crank sharpener.
