Our Nashville students are amazingly resilient! In early March, we were stuck by a devastating tornado. The following week, the Covid pandemic hit. Through it all, our kids hung in there with us, through online school until our recent return to in-person learning just one month ago.
Our kids can beat the odds, but they face steep challenges.
Many of our families face perilous economic conditions at the best of times, and Covid has deeply impacted our families. Our school is determined to give our kids the support they need to be successful despite the challenges they face.
My Project
Our school provides a lifeline to our students. Many come to school with stories that can hurt your heart just to hear about them. Due to this, our students sometimes need extra support to learn the behavior and habits that will allow them to be successful in school and life. Our school uses the LiveSchool app to recognize and reward positive choices with points. Because we lack funds to stock a proper "LiveSchool" store, we use incentives like popcorn parties and coupons for lunch with the teacher to incentivize earning points.
Having a properly stocked LiveSchool store would be a way to bring some extra joy to our little learners.
They could use their LiveSchool points to purchase small toys and trinkets. Due to Covid, both our in-person and online students could use their points to "shop" via a catalog page. Once we are no longer restricted by Covid, we could open a LiveSchool store in one of our vacant classrooms where students could go shopping once a month to spend the points they have earned with their good behavior.
