Help Us to Build a Mini Chinese Book Class Library
We need books in Chinese edition with variety levels to build a mini Mandarin library. No matter what level or interest of the students are, they can always find a book which fits them.

About My Students
This student-led project is lead by Cilong, who is a very dedicated and enthusiastic student in Mandarin 9th grade class! He enjoys learning and loves to be with his peers.
Coming from a same elementary, 75% of our students knew each other for over five years. As a result, they know each other really well and get along with each other really well. This is rare because we are an inner-city school in Boston, where mobility rate is extremely high. Our students respect each other and we are so grateful for everything that is happening in our school every day. As a Title 1 city school, we are proud to say that our attendance is above 90% on average. Academically, they are outstanding! They strive to work for good grades. In the last term of SY16, over 80% of our eighth graders were Honorable Mention or above. My students and my school are amazing. They motivate me to be a good teacher and continue to reach out for additional resources for them! Please consider helping us.
The students will use these books to help them improve their Mandarin fluency and interest. We are trying to get some popular books with different reading levels to fit all language proficiency levels of the students.
That reading Harry Potter, the hunger game, the little prince, and other Chinese popular books is not only so exciting, but it also increases language proficiency in a fun way!
These books can be used during school time and after school for writing inspiration, reading interest stimulating, and getting to know Chinese culture with authentic materials. Because the books cover many different topics, vary in reading level, all 250 students will benefit!
In Their Own Words
A lot of my classmates asked Ms. Zhao if she had any reading materials besides textbooks, and Ms. Zhao always does her best to provide it. However, the classmates come with different interests and language levels which make it extremely difficult for Ms. Zhao to meet the needs. That's why I came up with this mini classroom library idea. Hope the library can show up in the classroom one day and make all the classmates happy!
Since I am the leader of the project, I have gathered all the opinions before I started the project. After I estimated reading levels of all the classmates and interests of them, I sat down with Ms. Zhao and picked all possible books. It's hard to find all the books, but we tried our best to get the books we could.
In our school, most of the students started learning Chinese from elementary school. Yet, we have never had reading materials provided from school besides the textbooks. Most of the time, the books we read were the books written by American Asian about the culture. We really hope to read authentic reading materials. Hope these books bring us tons of information about China while we can't afford the trip to China.
