Along with the rest of the country, my NYC public school has moved to remote learning. Many students in our class have learning and attentional challenges. Because of that, it is tricky for those students to simply watch a video of me delivering a lesson and grasp the material presented.
Our students are unique, inquisitive, compassionate, and creative with a variety of academic needs and learning styles.
We try our best to make sure every student has equal opportunities to discover a love of learning. Our students get especially excited when they can explore the classroom, taking time to notice all the materials with which they will embark on their 3rd grade adventures!
My Project
Using an iPadPro and stylus would allow us to integrate technology and applications that are not available on laptop computers.
An iPad Pro would allow us to create visually stimulating video lessons for students, giving them easier access to our curriculum.
The screen is large and bright and the iPad’s camera controls are rich with features. The Apple Store offers dozens of excellent video camera apps that make the built-in camera even more powerful through image enhancement, stabilization, filters, exposure meters, aspect ratio and other granular controls. The professional-grade video editing apps make the iPad a complete filmmaking system, which is necessary in this new era of remote learning.
For example, I could integrate more visual and oral supports into a math quiz for students who struggle with reading. This would enable all of my students to access the math quiz using the means of receiving information that best suits their learning style.
