My students face challenges everyday that most of us have never had to face. Most of my students live in low socioeconomic environments and don't have the means necessary for basic school supplies, but still have the thirst for knowledge.
I teach 2nd grade at a Title I school.
All of my students receive free lunch, because of the community that they live in. At our school we need all the help and support that we can get. My students are children who are excited to learn but need the proper resources to engage and challenge them.
My Project
I am requesting 5 TAG Reading Systems and books for my classroom. This program will help my students become better readers because it is a hands on and interactive tool that teaches them how to read and sound out words. These systems will be used in small groups on a daily basis in my classroom. I hope that through this program my children will gain the confidence that they need to become successful readers.
This project is extremely important to the success of my students because it will give them the opportunity to become a better reader and also expose them to technology that otherwise they may not ever be exposed to.
These children are very unique because a lot of them wake themselves up in the morning, get dressed and walk to school alone because THEY are eager to learn. Some know that a good education is the only way they can be successful. Thank you for making a difference!!
