Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a unique and diverse group of students who are always willing to go the extra mile to understand the world around them. Although my students all have individual disabilities, they are determined to break stereotypes and pursue their dreams.

In spite of having various disabilities and living in a low income area, my students have continued to demonstrate their fierce love of learning through their hard work and caring effort.

Working with this amazing group of students is a powerful learning experience that teaches me about strength and perseverance.

My Project

Since, Time For Kids can be accessed through different grade levels, all my students would have the opportunity to read and enjoy the text regardless of their reading difficulties. This is of particular importance when working with students with special needs.

Incorporating Time For Kids into our literacy groups would be extremely beneficial to my students because it would provide them with an opportunity to access non-fiction text that is both rigorous and interesting.

Since most of my students have difficulty with comprehension, they enjoy texts that are rich in illustrations and photographs.

My students would thoroughly enjoy incorporating Time For Kids as a supplemental reading program that most educators do not embed in their regular academic lessons. Using Time For Kids as a comprehension piece during our literacy groups would provide the motivation needed for my students to take their reading to the next level.
