This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students live in the area of the country that has been hardest hit by recent current events. These youngsters reside in the Bronx; NY where 100% of the students receive free lunch. As if their circumstances weren't difficult enough; all of my students have been directly impacted by the pandemic COVID-19 and racial injustice.

These talented boys and girls deserve a chance to get the same outstanding education that their privilege counterparts take for granted.

My bright, smart, gifted and capable students have been quarantined since March 27th when NYC first went into isolation. They tell me that they are frightened, frustrated and confused.

My Project

In a response to the coronavirus outbreak in New York, my school district have been hit hard with massive budget cuts. Basic necessities that were handed out to students, are now a thing of the past. There is simple no monetary funds available for these purchase based on the severe slashing of the NYC budget.

The children that I serve in the Bronx; New York have suffered severe losses due to Covid19.

My youngsters need basic school supplies (that their families CANNOT afford), to stimulate their creativity. Without pencils, crayons & erasers my kids will suffer tremendously.
