This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I love my students' enthusiasm for learning. I love the school family we have built over the years and continue to expand upon. Most of all, I love coming to school each day and working with the kids in the pursuit of excellence.
I teach at a Title I school in Tampa where over 90% of students are on the free lunch program.
Most of our student population is Hispanic/Latino, and our families typically have multiple students. Since many of my students are still new to the English language, they are mostly visual learners and need more exposure to vocabulary.
My students want to learn. My families want the best education for their children. I want to allow my students the same opportunities, while still accommodating their different needs and preparing them for the ever-changing 21st-century jobs they will have.
My Project
Our school is trying to recognize positive behavior and making good choices. I am excited to be able to reward these behaviors is by giving students tickets and allowing them to buy items from a school store.
I would like to get containers to use with a shelf in my classroom so that we can set up a school store and have the store items organized.
Our students love being able to shop and buy things with their well-deserved tickets. It is also helping to teach students about responsible finance.
