My Students
Have you ever received really amazing things from a friend or family member and you didn't know where you were going to put it? Well that's how my students feel about their amazing books that were funded through another Donorschoose a few weeks.
My 30 students are inner city students who attend a public school where funding has been cut significantly.
Their parents chose a public schools because they do not have many options, which in turn does not provide the schools with a ton of support. They are good, hard working students who just want to do well and be successful and deserve the world.
My Project
A few weeks ago another project of ours was funded that allowed us to receive some leveled reading books to help develop our love for reading. They were delivered and now that they are here we have no place to store them. With our school being so large and funding being so limited there are only so many bookshelves in each classroom. These great books are now sitting on the floor because the 2 bookshelves in the classroom are full with learning materials.
These materials would be used to house our amazing books and in addition it will allow me to create a library that is separated into categories for the students to be able to easily access them. Right now our library consist of random books just jammed on one shelf.
My students will learn and take ownership of the new library carts all the while being responsible for maintaining and making sure our books and bookshelves are treated with the utmost respect.

My students will take pride in knowing these bookshelves are going to help them find just right books and allow me to put them in categories which in turn will help them pick a book they want to read.
