My Students
My students are from diverse backgrounds from over 29 different countries. Around 90% of our students qualify for free lunches and other subsidized programs.
Our middle school students are rock stars but it is hard to do your best if you do not feel confident.
We have had students request basic grooming items. Students that move between households or do not have access to full baths, are asking for soap, hair care, and personal hygiene products. Providing items will help students focus on their education instead of worrying about their hygiene. Middle school can be hard transition under the best circumstances.
My Project
Through observation and experience, we have identified the need to supply basic toiletries for our students. We are naming our care closet after our school mascot the Kodiak bear. We have chosen to stock our Kodiak Kare Kloset with shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, lotion, and toothpaste.
These toiletry items are not just needed but necessary for good self esteem.
Through referrals and advertisements, students can come get what they need during homeroom, activity period, or lunch time. We are beginning with toiletries but hope to also stock basic uniforms and other requested items. We appreciate you choosing our project . Thank you.
