My students need a binding machine and supplies to make their books they create as part of their science class. The long stapler helps with book making and poster presentations.
Urban students often are overlooked and mine are no exception! I want to put the tools in their hands they need to be successful at their jobs, becoming responsible citizens who understand what they need to do to ensure tomorrow has a chance to succeed.
I am often the first introduction to science that they have ever had and while this can be a challenge, it is also exciting to see them discover things for the first time and take ownership in doing science rather than reading it from a very outdated textbook.
They often don't believe that I want to give them opportunities outside the classroom and are truly amazed when they realize there is a huge world out there just waiting to be explored.
My Project
We like to make books or boards that showcase our projects. We also create presentation boards to share our ideas with peers and other classrooms. We need to have a binding machine so our books stay together without putting staples into my fingers! We will also need the combs and smaller staples to attach things onto boards. the longer stapler helps us reach places on boards that we cannot do with regular sized staplers.
These students have nothing to work with and these supplies would really encourage their creativity!
You can help us make it to science fair, present awesome projects to share about our research, and feel like we stand a chance in competition with other non urban areas.
