My students need a variety of picture books and chapter books at different levels so that we could start building our classroom library full of books that are engaging and appeal to a variety of interests.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. G.'s classroom raised $578
This project is fully funded
My Students
My students are enrolled in a 50/50 Spanish dual-immersion program, where they receive 50% of instruction is Spanish and 50% of instruction in English every day by two different teachers. I will be working with roughly 48 students who are all of diverse backgrounds, and aiming to become bilingual citizens to aid them in this global economy. Micheltorena is a Title 1 school where 60% of the students are socioeconomically disadvantaged, but that does not change the value they hold for reading and education in general!
My Project
I will begin my first year of teaching in a third grade classroom this upcoming August and I am very excited to start building a diverse classroom library! I have bought some books already, but quickly realized everything I want will just keep adding up! This project will help fund for many of the books that will help me start to build up my classroom library, which will only keep growing throughout the years. I will have two different groups of 24 students every day, because I teach in a dual-immersion school where students receive 50% of instruction in English and 50% of instruction in Spanish every day. I am requesting English books, because I am the English instruction teacher.
Your generous donation to our project will improve our third grade classroom, by helping me provide them with a quality classroom library that they will be excited to walk into on the first day of school!
From experiences as a student teacher, I know how important literacy is and how helping students develop a love for reading is crucial and I want to be the kind of teacher that provides her students with books to read in class and take home too! I want my students to be interested in the books they read and I also want to provide them with books at different levels, because I understand every student will be reading at different levels. I want to keep my students engaged in reading and want to keep them excited when it is time to read! Any help in funding this project will be much appreciated. I love my career and cannot wait to build a beautiful classroom library.
