Help me give my students cookies, cards, markers, crayons, watercolors, stickers and whisper phones so they can create kindness cards and carry out random acts of kindness.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My TK students love to be at school. They love to learn, and they enjoy being an important part of their community. Nearly all the students that attend our school live in low-income households, but that doesn't stop them from contributing generously to their learning environment. They proudly cheer each other on, lift each other up, and push each other forward. I want to create an environment where students strive to demonstrate kindness in everything they do. It is important for students to search for and recognize the kindness all around them--at school, at home, and in the community.
By giving students the opportunity to reward community members that demonstrate and exemplify kindness, the students will have the opportunity to see how much kindness exists in their community, how kindness makes the world a better place to be, how kindness uplifts the spirit of those around them, and most importantly this will challenge students to search for the goodness that is all around them every day.
The cards, markers, stickers and watercolors in this project will be used to create notes of appreciation to people that the students have found showing kindness. The whisper phones will help to create a quiet environment while students work to break words apart into sounds so they can add their messages of appreciation to the kindness cards, and the cookies will give the students the opportunity to carry out their own random acts of kindness by making and delivering warm cookies and messages of appreciation to school helpers such as the librarian, lunch helpers, the custodian, principal, yard duties, health aid, secretaries and more.
