My Students
My class is an energetic, excited and overwhelmingly enthusiastic group of first graders. They love coming to school and using the technology! Our school is lacking technology and my students do not have computer class or regular access to any technology.
Most of my students lack access to technology in the home which motivates me to provide these tools for my students.
They are a funny, dedicated and inquisitive group of students who run into the classroom and don't want to leave! They are six and seven year old students who need engaging lessons and activities to keep them engaged in learning. Our school is a pre-kindergarten through sixth grade school that has a high population of English Language Learners, Special Education students and students from various cultural backgrounds. Our students need a high level of support for them to learn at their best. Technology helps us to give them those supports so that they can learn at their best!
My Project
We would use the iPad to help us with our Social Studies curriculum on financial planning. We do not have any resources that help our students to learn about the topics that we cover such as making decisions about when to spend and save, how communities work to earn money to provide for their needs and wants, and working to earn money to provide for our needs and wants. We would use the iPad to access online books, video clips, online games and PowerPoint slides on these topics. Since we do not currently have resources to support financial planning for such young students, many times we struggle to teach them about the content that we have to cover.
iPads are an amazing tool that should be available in every classroom.
I plan on using the ipad to help my first graders learn about financial literacy. My classroom will be forever changed with the addition of iPads!
