My Project
In our reading intervention class, we work daily on phonemic awareness and reading. We have been focusing daily on SOR (Science of Reading) to help provide foundational reading skills that students need to become successful readers as they grow in their educational adventures. The Science of Reading (SOR) has five main components: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
Using the five main components of SOR within small groups and through independent practice will help my students build a strong foundation in reading and writing.
The SOR materials I am requesting from Teachers Pay Teachers will help my students become more fluent and independent readers. There are guided phonics games they can play to practice the skills as well as decodable readers that are written based on the skills we have been working on.
