My Students

There are many challenges that our children face on a daily basis, especially those who live in poverty and come from families that can't afford much. I'm a fifth grade teacher to loves teaching children these kids and opening their eyes to their real world.

My class this year is the sweetest class ever.

They are a group of students who are very bright, and some are even gifted, but they don't have the proper resources to help them advance in their education. Most of them don't have a computer at home and wouldn't know how to use it.

My Project

Every year I have put the extra effort to make a digital yearbook/movie with all the pictures that have taken throughout the school year. The school does make and sell yearbooks but most students cannot afford it. This is something special I make for them, they cherish and keep as a great memory. But the problem is that I use my personal camera and do not allow the kids to use it, afraid that they might break it. This year I want to give the students the opportunity to take the pictures and create the digital yearbook. In this process, they will learn how to use a computer and a camera. I also have a project that I plan on doing in January for our Heritage unit. Each child will take the camera home for a day and take pictures of things in their house that represent their heritage. During this process they will learn about themselves and learn how to write an autobiography.

There are times where children have to go beyond Mathematic and Language Arts. Please help my students by allowing them to explore and learn at a different level.
