Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am teaching in a low-income school where our school has little to no supply budget. In my 2nd grade classroom, we have no pencil sharpeners. All I have is an old wall-mounted one that doesn't work. My students have to go and use the sharpener next door in another classroom when their pencils break.
My students come from a wide variety of ethnic backgrounds.
A large population of our students are refugees from war-torn countries. They come to America in search of a better life and an education. I want their experiences with me to be meaningful and beneficial while in my classroom.
My Project
I am requesting two large adjustable electric sharpeners. Often in first grade we use larger pencils and while transitioning into second grade, the students use thinner pencils. Having an adjustable sharpener will allow them to use any pencil that is comfortable for their writing style. I am asking for two because I can place one at each end of the classroom for ease and convenience.
Your donation will make a difference in our daily classroom activities.
It becomes difficult to not have supplies as simple as a sharp pencil. Your gift will help us to sharpen up and use our pencils to show what we know!
