Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school has been serving Pre-K through 5th grade students and their families in the Houston ISD community for 15 years. The school offers two-way and transitional bilingual programs, skills for learning and living (SLL), and ancillary programs in physical education, technology, art, and music. The campus consistently offers opportunities for students to engage in cross-cultural activities through programs and presentations for the parents and families of their community.
The majority of students at my campus come from Hispanic and African-American families.
Over half of the students enrolled are English Language Learners (ELL) and over 80% qualify for the Free and Reduced Price Lunch program. The students campus-wide benefit from the inclusion offered by their special area classrooms.
My Project
A quality sound system is paramount in the delivery of musical instruction and in the production of student performances. Students will use this system during daily instruction to enhance instructional delivery, musical performances both on campus and in the community, school assemblies reaching all students and staff, and special events engaging families and community members served by our school.
Every child has a voice, and the most important thing for them in life is for their voice to be heard.
My students will be able to have their voices heard with the help of a reliable sound system for performances, in everyday classroom use, and through special school events.
