Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are great. They love learning, and they enjoy coming to school. My students are mostly immigrants or children of immigrants. Many are English language learners (ELLs). Nearly all students at my school receive free or reduced-price lunch because their family household incomes are below the poverty line.
My school is a large, crowded school in a very large, urban district.
This past year, we have had a lot of budget cuts. Several staff from our school were cut. Most of our budget has been used to keep the teachers and staff that we do have. Even though the school has limited resources, students have some of the highest test scores in the area.
My Project
Most of my students have been remote learning for over a year. Some of my kindgergarten students have never been inside a physical school building. After months of learning over a screen, I have had to become creative to continue to engage my students.
Wordwall is a fun, interactive digital platform where students are able to practice vocabulary, letters, sounds, and more.
Students love the humorous graphics and engaging games on Wordwall. With a pro plan, I will be able to create personalized materials for students to help reinforce what they are learning in class. Wordwall will keep us learning no matter where students are finishing out the school year.
