This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

All learners, especially our youngest learners thrive when they do! We have been studying the impact and importance of restaurants in our community and the various workers involved to make an effective restaurant. It is now time for us to create and run our own restaurant!

My students are bright and eager five year olds.

I have a class of 25 scholars who are always seeking answers to questions and thinking outside of the box. My students are concerned about social justice and equity. They understand the importance of working together and of valuing the community. By running a restaurant, students will be able to learn in a hands on way the importance of working together and the level of commitment and communication involved in making a restaurant successful. Students will run their own restaurant in our classroom.

My Project

The aprons, plates, cups, utensils, tablecloths, the emerald green paper table mats, the plastic vases and flowers will all help to create the decor and allow us to effectively run our restaurant. The white bags requested will allow us to provide take out. Students will learn that running a restaurant is a complex undertaking and involves attention to both food and decor. They will also enjoy the cash register and soft seats. To further support our learnings the watch and record plant lab and the plants and flowers pocket chart will allow the class to study in depth the plant life cycle. Students will be able to observe and record plant growth. The plant and insect kits will allow us to have discussions around vegetation, access to resources and the role insects play in food growth. The paper organizer and file folders will allow me to keep track of all unit related work. Finally, the storage cart will allow me to continue to develop restaurant unit center activities and store them in a way that is easy and accessible for my students.

All donations to this project will help my class actualize their goal of running a class restaurant.

The organizational supplies will help students access centers with ease and the science kits requested will help me teach unit related content in an engaging way. The cushions will provide students with a comfy spot near our classroom library to read all about restaurants. Your donation to this project would be greatly appreciated by all of our scholars.
