This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a fourth year teacher that is in need of books to help my students read. My kindergarten students love to be read to and love to read.
The school is 82% economically disadvantaged.
My students have shown an interest in wanting to have more books that they can actually read. Many of my students live in low income areas. They look forward to coming to school because it is a place they can go to use their creativity and expand their minds. Unfortunately, many of them do not have books. The only time they are able to learn to read is at school. The materials I need will help encourage my students to read. They won't even know they're learning.
My Project
Books that are on the children's reading level will give them the confidence they need to read. These big books will go in the classroom library. We will also be read aloud to them as a group. This will help them be familiar with the books before reading them independently.
Please help not only improve the reading skills of my students, but help my students understand the pleasures of reading a book!
With your help all of my kindergartners will be star readers! You will provide the motivation needed for all students to try their best and learn to read. Students can practice reading skills at their own level and the materials can grow with them as their reading levels soar.
