This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Believe it or not, my students enjoy getting homework. The only thing they don't enjoy about it, is the READING. I have to find a way to motivate them to read at home. "Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body"- Sir Richard Steele

My students are eager to learn.

They love math, science, social studies, but when it comes to language arts, they hate it. I have worked really hard so far to show them the importance of reading, and have also made it fun for them. I know that with continuous support and motivation they will end the year loving and enjoying reading.

My Project

The students will feel a sense of ownership when they get a cool digital bookmarker that will keep track of their minutes read. They will also feel responsible when they get a special bag to place their book mark in, along with some books at their level. They will want to read every night because they will also get a chance to earn cool rewards, like the scented pencils and cool bookmarks.

These materials will encourage and motivate my students to become lovers of reading.

They will want to read because they will be provided with the tools necessary to practice this skill at home. They will not only want to read everyday but they will also learn responsibility once these materials are given to them.
