My Project

Audio-assisted reading is an activity where students listen to an audio version of a text while simultaneously following along with the written text in a book or on a screen. This strategy provides students with an auditory model of fluent and expressive reading.

Students will gain confidence listening to fluent reading.

First students will listen as they gain familiarity with a book, then they will find key words, then they will choral read. Learning will then be scaffolded until they can read the text themselves fluently without any audio. They will each receive at least one of the books they mastered when they leave for summer break. Their parents will be informed that providing access to these mastered books, through library borrowing or purchase, would be beneficial. The rhyming patterns in Dr. Seuss provide experience with many phonics patterns and rhymes. Thank you so much for considering donating to make this resource a available to my students.
