My students need STEM science stations and Can Do! science discovery kits to learn about magnets, sink and float, motion, magnification, color and light, and sound.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Tell me and I will forget. Show me and I will remember. Involve me and I will understand."
Young children, especially those with special needs, thrive when given the opportunity to be actively involved in their own education, especially in the area of science.
I teach children with special needs in a Kindergarten Special Day Class in a high-poverty school where 100% of the students receive free breakfast and lunch.
My students' qualifying conditions range from Mild/Severe Intellectual Disability to Autism, Speech/Language Disorder, and Specific Learning Disability. Many of my students have emerging speech, some do not talk, and I have one or two who speak in 4-5 word phrases.
While my students may have learning handicaps, they still have a desire to learn that is inherent in young children, and they just need the right tools to help them be successful. I provide a language-rich environment every day for my students with disabilities that span a wide variety of ability levels. However, there are learning tools available that my school just cannot provide due to cost and limited school budgets.
My Project
My students need Science Instant Learning Centers and Can Do Science Discovery Kits to be able to work in small groups actively discovering how magnets work, what things sink and float, and how things move differently, to name a few of the several topics covered by the resources I am requesting for my students. These resources will be highly engaging and will allow my students to experiment with science materials hands-on.
Your thoughtful donations to this project will have a big impact on my students.
The hands-on materials and activities will build excitement and motivation as they are actively engaged in STEM-enriched learning activities.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
