My Students
I teach on a first grade team filled with a variety of students in bilingual ICT classes, NEST ICT Classes, and general education classes. All of the students are creative, persistent and motivated. They have a great love of learning, and especially love to write to express their ideas.
They are students with and without special needs who all benefit from writing and drawing to express their thoughts and ideas.
We learn together in a PreK-5 school that works hard for our unique population. Our school is a family of teachers, administrators, and support staff that collaborate to ensure that every one of our students reaches their potential.
My Project
Our school is a low-income school and due to the impacts of COVID 19, we are trying to start the students' 2020-2021 school year off with all of the supplies that they need. This will take a large financial burden off of our families. These journals will be used for daily social-emotional learning to encourage students to reflect on their feelings and self regulate their emotions. Also, these journals will be used to teach and reinforce key writing skills. Through writing, students can express their feelings, refine their writing, and communicate with their peers and teachers. Journals are a powerful tool that will help my students be successful in and out of the classroom. My students are eager to write and express themselves creatively. These journals will allow them to do just that!
