My Students

I teach at a suburban high school catering to all walks of student life. Our students are highly motivated by what Psychology has to teach them about themselves and others. Like in so many schools around the country, 'Social Emotional Learning' is common curriculum, my school is no different. We teach our students skills to interact, manage emotions, and positive relationships. By understanding yourself, you may better understand others.

Often students with challenging backgrounds seek solace in my class as a way to manage the chaos of growing up.

Having resources for research and community outreach allows for students to see a practical application of the information they learn in class. Psychology is a fast growing elective in our community and our students deserve the best.

My Project

This printer is going to be used to help students with several projects throughout the school year. The first project will be their 'Superhero and Psychology' project. The students will be researching various psychological disorders and treatments to incorporating the information into a story about their favorite superhero. The project will conclude with students creating a comic strip and printing it out to show their peers.

The printer will also be used to help students print off research throughout the year on psychology topics, community outreach, treatment options, etc.

The students will be researching and creating exhibits for a Psychology fair. For example, teens and depression or stress and the developing brain. Each group will be assigned a major topic or issue in Psychology and they have to create a poster board or display of information, flyers and handouts about topic and community outreach options. I hope that this project will educate the schools population on the issues of psychology.

Psychology is a subject that every student should introduced to, to help them navigate and understand adolescence.

I hope that having this printer will allow my students to take their community outreach and education of psychology to the next level to inspire their peers. But most importantly, educate their community about mental health.
