Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My kindergarten students are amazing! Despite all their struggles at home, they come to school and our Google Meets with smiles on their faces, ready to learn. They especially love when we use technology such as computers, tablets and the SmartBoard for our songs, stories and reading and writing lessons.
My students and their families were hit hard during the COVID-19 pandemic, and a majority of them are now learning from home.
These students are ready to learn despite the circumstances and love coming onto Google Meets every single day! Additionally these students are English Language Learners, and are excited to learn the English language and how to read, write, and speak English!
My Project
Kindergarten is the time when students learn to read and write. Many our students come to us and cannot even write their own name. Some have never even held a crayon before they came to school. This is why it is so important for them to practice as much as they possible can.
While working from home, many of our students struggle to practice because they don't have the paper and pens they need.
These dry erase boards will give them a tool that can be used over and over and never run out. I will be making baggies for all my remote students to keep at home. Each student will receive these dry erase boards, dry erase markers, a special primary notebook (with a box for pictures, and appropriate lines for them to write on), and some other writing/drawing tools.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
