My Students

Meet my kindergartners! The boys and girls that I teach are passionate about learning. They are happiest when listening to stories on the carpet, working in together at learning centers, or engaging in small group work at the teacher table. I cannot wait to make self portraits with them to decorate our classroom during the first week of school, create apple-print collages in September, and paint noodle necklaces for Valentine's Day.

Over the years, my students and I have experienced so much kindness and support from the community, strangers, family, and friends.

Between the hard work we do inside our classroom and the incredible generosity of the people who are cheering us on and want to see us succeed, there's nothing we can't accomplish.

As I prepare for a new group of kids, I have so many hopes and dreams for what this year can be. I know my students will be happy, curious, funny, and smart. I look forward to doing all that I can to set up a classroom and a curriculum that will push them to love learning as much as I love teaching.

My Project

Young children are naturally eager to learn and love feeling successful. I have chosen these materials because they are sturdy, engaging, and so much fun. Most importantly, my students can use them independently to explore essential concepts and learn as they play.

The Magnetic Letter Builders Set, Alphabet Learning Locks, and Printing Practice cards will help all students to recognize and name letters, practice letter formation, and learn letter sounds regardless of their ability level.

Every child loves to build, explore, and draw, meaning I will be able to engage even the most reluctant student with these materials.

I'm equally excited about the math materials. The Patterning and Sorting Folder Games will allow kids to develop critical thinking skills that are essential in math, science, and reading. The Comparing Numbers center will help them connect value and quantity to numerals, an important and difficult skill for young students. The Numbers and Counting Folder Games will help them develop number sense and fluency with numbers through 100 and set them up for success for years to come.

Finally, the Wooden Train Set set will become a quick favorite at our blocks center. Students will collaboratively design and build the track, create a town, and engage in dramatic play as they manipulate the train cars, buildings and people. My students will love the chance to build and explore.

When I pull small groups throughout the day, it's important that the rest of my class is engaged in meaningful and developmentally appropriate work. I can imagine the looks of concentration and joy on my students' faces as they work with these new materials. My kids will be able to use these resources in pairs or small groups throughout the day and all year long.
