Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
An organized library is a happy library! My students and I are in dire need of a proper shelf and bins for our library.
My students are Kindergarten students in a urban setting in Tennessee with ninety-nine percent of our students receiving free and reduced lunch.
My students are mostly English Language Learners with varying degrees of English. Many don't speak any English at all.
My Project
I am requesting a library cart with shelves and a set of bins to organize our current haphazard and makeshift "library". I would like to be able to organize the books by different subjects and difficulty level to make it easier for my students to find books they can read. At the moment we are without any means of separating or organizing our collection of books, they are a BIG mess.
This project is important to us because it will mean being able to readily put our hands on books that are the correct level and in a certain subject area rather than having to sift through many books.
It will also make books that the students want to read a second time easier to locate.
