My students need a place to store all their stuff. These wide stackable bins are perfect to keep everything in one place.

My Students
We are the inaugural cohort in the only French Immersion program in LAUSD! Our kids were the first to take the plunge into the French Immersion program in Kindergarten, and now they are in 2nd grade! We feel an obligation to keep our "avant garde" (literally "advance guard," or the "cutting edge" in French!) students on the very edge of innovation, challenge, and resources!
We need some help organizing our creative mess!
I like to provide the framework for creativity and productivity, but sometimes it just makes a huge mess!
My Project
I run a non-traditional classroom. There is no assigned seating. Kids are encouraged to pick a new seat every day to work on their relationships with different peers. Once kids have a home base for the day, they are not required to sit still. They can stand while they do their work, or go sit on the rug or a work table. In this way, I am fostering social-emotional growth and boosting productivity.
While a non-traditional classroom structure is great for child development, it is a logistical problem for materials storage.
Since the kids don't have a regular desk, we keep all of their materials in different places around the room, and it has become a system where materials get damaged, mixed up or glued together, or otherwise ruined or misplaced.
These bins will allow us to consolidate all the materials in one place. In their own individual removable drawer, each student can keep their Writer's Workshop Folder, Daily Journal, Reader's Workshop leveled readers, and differentiated Word Study (spelling) materials. It will streamline the housekeeping in our class while preserving our productive non-traditional use of the classroom space.
