Help us Organize our Books

My students need a way to organize our various books in the classroom with a Leveled Library Storage Cart and book bins. It would be nice to organize by author as well as theme so it would be easy to find various stories.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Smith's classroom raised $285

My Students

I work in an Urban District that qualifies for both free breakfast and free lunch programs. The school we work in has a large percentage of children that speak English as a second language. We have children that are from Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Cape Verde and Haiti. The children on top of speaking English as a second language also have a variety of Disabilities that effect their learning. Students often are diagnosed with Autism, Developmental Delays, Communication Disorders, and Medical Issues.

These wonderful children come to my specialized class to learn based on their individual learning styles.

My Project

The students in my room have a variety of learning disabilities. It is very important to have a well organized room for the students to find items that they use on a daily basis. Children that are on the Autism Spectrum require a well organized room with picture cues to find items. Currently we do not display all our books because the bins around the room get confusing for the students to find items. Being able to organize books by Author and Genre using the bins, storage cart, and the alphabet will also aid in their ability to locate books independently, share stories with friends and take bins to tables for group reading activities.

Due to the significant budget cuts in our District we have not only lost teachers, but we have lost any budget we may have had to purchase supplies.

Being able to have a neat and orderly book area will benefit the students in my class. They will be able to choose books and put back in one area of the room, instead of all over the classroom.
