My students need math and reading manipulatives, such as a Magnetic Math Manipulatives Library, fraction tiles, Build & Learn Geometry Kit and more, in order to work in groups.

it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Help our Trojan scholars receive the tools they need to get them to college!
Do you remember the first time you thought about going to college?
In our third grade USC classroom, the Trojans truly live by our school’s motto, "College for Certain". In an underprivileged area where college is often but a dream, these unrelenting scholars work hard to defy the odds and attain the ultimate goal- college. These courageous and skillful scholars continue to work to their utmost potential not only to meet, but to exceed, grade level expectations. Most students come from homes where there is often struggle and strife, yet they continue to arrive to school each day with a positive attitude. They have the ambition to become civic leaders and to transform their community to be a better place. Despite the difficult challenges they face inside and outside of the classroom, these brave scholars continue to work hard, stay positive, and persevere.
My Project
The purpose of these reading resources and math manipulatives is to provide students with the tools necessary to meet ALL of their needs. In Constructivist learning groups, students will read passages that are "just right" and work with math manipulatives to help their knowledge grow. These manipulatives will allow students to work in groups in which they will take a "hands-on" approach and work together to problem solve. Students will use academic discourse to teach one another in cooperative learning groups.
These manipulatives are essential to help students take a hands-on approach to their learning.
The materials will allow the Trojans to show rather than tell their understanding of content, and provide them with the opportunity to think critically and express their unique understanding of content.
