This year, I teach a class of 24 ICT (Integrated Co-Teaching) first graders. Forty percent of my class is special education and sixty percent is general education. My school is in a changing neighborhood in New York City. My students have many different learning and management needs in order to ensure a successful educational endeavor.
My students are intelligent and eager to learn.
I am trying to pass on my love for reading to this class, but, as a result of low reading levels and a few interesting books, this has been very challenging. I am trying to create a collaborative classroom that adheres to all of the varied interests of my students.
My Project
Ink for our classroom printer is very expensive and our school only provides us with one ink cartridge for the year. Once the ink is gone, we have to buy the replacement ourselves. This makes the amount of printing that we can do in our classroom very limited. I like to use the printer to print out worksheets, banners for our bulletin boards, student work and photos of our class during various learning endeavors.
With 3 months left in our school year, we are completely out of ink in our printer and can no longer print out the vital resources that we need!
